HELLO

I'm Sash - the artist.  All drawings are hand illustrated in house by me.  And these are our dogbassadors who helped inspire Doodles by Donut - the online store with the most pawsonality - where you will find that one of kind gift for the coolest cat or diggity dog that has everything!  

WHY

I’ve always doodled for as long as I can remember and I have a deep love for animals, plants and just being creative. So, it was inevitable that I would start doodling my plants and pets.  When my niece and nephews had to say goodbye to their German Spitz, Gizmo, I wanted a way for them to carry the memory of Gizmo around with them.   What better way than on their very own shirts!  What started as a personalised doodle to help spark some joy, inspired Doodles by Donut.

THE NAME

A few years ago, I organised a stranger to deliver a single donut to my crush.  Little did we know, that this symbolic gesture would become the theme of our love.  Donuts found a way to form part of every celebration or become donut related gifts.  So, when we bought the tiniest bundle of chihuahua joy into our lives, it was a no brainer, he was going to be called Donut, and it was fitting as his colouring was that of a freshly baked cinnamon doughnut. Naturally, we sprinkled him with all the donut related puppy paraphernalia we could find!  His favourite being the Fuzzy yard donut squeaky toy. He bought so much joy to our household.  Tragically, during a move into our new home, we lost our little Donut.  I was devastated and naturally turned to drawing to help work through my grief…and it was a way to help remind me of the joy he bought into our lives in the short time he was with us.

THE DOGBASSADORS

Disney, a Black Labrador Retriever, is the most beautiful soul you will ever meet.  She has grown up with very small dogs, so her spatial awareness is horrendous as she thinks she is about 28kg smaller than she actually is.  She is my shadow, following me wherever I go and knows when anybody needs a hug.  Even though she has just had her 10th birthday, she still acts as if she is about 2 years old for 70% of the day...which is just one of the many reason's I adore her.

Walt, a long haired Chihuahua, weighing in at just over 2kg, was bought to us by fate 12 months after Donut's tragic accident.  I was actually looking online for a local Concreter and some how Walt's ad. was amongst the returned results.  He had only been with his current family for six weeks when they discovered one of the kiddies had extreme allergy's and therefore were looking to re-home Walt.  We had been concerned with Disney during this 12 month period as she just seemed to have lost some of her zest, so we really didn't want to upset her further by bringing a strange dog into her life. The minute Disney laid eyes on Walt, she started smiling again and instigated playing immediately.  Needless to say, Walt has been bossing Disney around every day since.  Walt also has a watermelon addiction and thinks he's about 28kg bigger than he actually is.
