Guides for commissions

The information on this page is to help you with completing the form for requesting a commission.  The information is broken into three sections:

   1. Guide to help you choose the style of portrait you want for your pet

   2. Image guidelines for taking and/or submitting photo's

   3. Other FAQ's about commissions.

1. Choosing your portrait style

Each of our pets have their own wicked ways that we can't help think is soo cute.  Choose the portrait style that you think will best capture your pet's pawsonality for your commissioned pet portrait.

SIMPLES PORTRAIT STYLE

The SIMPLES style is for all the minimalists out there.  There will be minimal detail of fur or feathers, minimal monochromatic shading, no colour.

Includes pet’s name.

DETAILS PORTRAIT STYLE

It's all in the DETAILS offers more detail of your pet’s features such as colouring and shading where appropriate.  Can include a coloured circle in the background to make your pet really pop, if desired.

 Includes pet’s name.

FULLY CUSTOMISED PORTRAIT STYLE

Fully CUSTOMISED offers all the bells and whistles.  It can be simple or detailed upon request, but with the added bonus of you being able to request the addition of some personal elements (within reason). Can include colour and shading if appropriate.

 Includes pet’s name.

2. image guide for pup-parazzi's

Use this guide to help ensure that you're capturing your pet's good side for our in house artist.

We know some of our beloved pets are in pet heaven and existing photos you may have may not exactly meet the criteria below.  Don't worry at all! Send through a variety of photos you have and our in house artist will work with what we've got to create something special.

 MAKE SURE YOUR PET’S:

   •  whole face, neck and body is visible

   •  brightly lit with natural lightining or bright room.

   •  looking forward and eye level to camera.

Other positions are acceptable, but we need one to understand size and body composition.

TRY TO AVOID PHOTOS WHERE YOUR PET’S:

face, neck and body is partly cut out of frame of the photo.

face, neck and body is partly or fully covered by shadows.

     poor lighting.

lying down at an angle where you can't see full neck or body.

     not looking forward.

looking up at you and the camera.

2. I wanna make a change?

I find it hard to make decisions too or come up with more ideas AFTER the fact.  That's why all portraits include minor changes up to 30 minutes worth of work at no additional cost. These changes could include but not limited to, changing of text/font of pet's name, change/add a quote, change/remove coloured background.  Our artist will be in touch if any changes fall outside of the 30 minutes timeframe.

3. I ordered the SIMPLE/DETAILED Doodle but I would like to add some more personal touches...

Not a problem. We can upgrade you to our fully customised commission but depending on the complexity of your request we may require more time before a draft can be sent for review.   Shoot us an email with your request/s and we'll let you know whether or not we can do it.  We will proceed with your commission upon payment for the additional request/s.

Personalised touches are the addition of simple items to the portrait (e.g. glasses or hat on your pet, or ball in background).

4. The Approval process

Our artist will seek your approval before committing the final art work to the print of your choice i.e. A3 print, shirt, tea-towel etc. by sending you a watermarked digital version to review.
